Company History

TXU Energy officially took its name in 1999 as a multinational energy company, after originating as a publicly-owned holding company in 1945 under the name Texas Utilities Company.

Afterward, Energy Future Holdings Corp was created when TXU was bought by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, Texas Pacific Group and Goldman Sachs. EFH is a privately held energy company based in Dallas.

Since that time, TXU energy has developed equipment geared toward helping customers in TX better manage their homes.

Community Outreach

TXU Energy has created the nation’s largest-known tree farm, the TXU Urban Tree Farm at Richland College. The 10,000 trees planted on the farm will be given to schools, non-profits and many city and government entities throughout TX.

To put it in perspective, one tree that is older than 50 years generates $31,250 worth of oxygen. Add that to the $62,000 worth or air pollution control and the $37,500 of recycled water it saves and that adds up to a greener and healthier environment.

TXU Energy is also a presence in the Texas classrooms. TXU Energy Solar Academy partnered up with the National Energy Education Development Project (NEED) so that they could bring their solar energy education program to the students in Texas schools.

Selected school districts get a free, web-based 1-kW solar array which they can use to learn not only about solar technology, but give the students and teachers involved an interactive learning experience. The amount of energy that is being generated by their school can be tracked by the classes, and they can use the data received in their everyday lesson plans. TXU Energy is doing their best to make schoolwork, less work and more fun.
